These worked like a charm after the dog had experience with an activated scat mat. We bought these to "block off" additional parts of the house. It is extremely rare for her to cross the boundary. We planned to switch one with the activated one if she did cross it but she hasn't even done it enough times to do that. This does not have the lines that the real one does. Seems like they could have at least drawn fake "wires" running through it, but she didn't seem to notice. By the way, I have tried just plain thick plastic from the fabric store before and it was not as effective.
