Our cats are generally very well behaved but since we got a second cat, the two play so rigorously that sometimes they damage the surrounding furniture. We were concerned about our leather couches, otherwise, everything else was fine. The covers themselves do a perfect job of really blunting the nails, they try to scratch but not even the slightest nick shows!
Application was a tricky part. The front paws are easy since you can nestle the cat between your legs as you kneel down and make a V shape out of them. The hind legs are harder and is a two person job because our cats do resist. You may have to make do with a few hind nails at a time. I tried doing them all at once and Snowy got so emotionally upset about it, so I gave him a generous treat that day.
They also fell off more quickly that I expected. Within a few days, half of them fell off, but maybe next time I'll try to trim their nails shorter so the cap fits on more snugly, there were a few nails that were still on the longer end.
And the third issue is what has been the biggest concern that some already mentioned. Maybe I did not apply the caps well enough, but one day, Snowy got his nail caught in a loop of carpet. He was so distressed and screaming his little head off. He kept yanking to get his paw away but I got it out of the carpet for him by pulling forward then back because of how the nails curve.
I am debating just getting slip covers for the couches and resuming to regular nail trimming since that is the only problem. They miss scratching their scratching posts (it is a source of leisure and exercise for them too), dislike having these put on especially if these fall off so fast anyways, and the event with getting stuck at the carpet was very scary. Oh yes, the price I find to be high. $20 for 40 and having to continuously replace those can get costly. Or, if I do try it again, I would be sure to cut their nails shorter for a more snug fit, maybe they will stay on longer then.Get more detail about Cat Soft Claws Nail Caps Blue Medium 10-15 LBs.
