SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post Top Quality

My two cats love this scratching post. They're adolescent cats with a lot of energy, and my female cat loves to climb. My male cat is large and scratches vigorously, so he wouldn't use the sisal scratching pad I bought that hangs on a door handle (the wobbling made him nervous). Neither cat is interested in cardboard scratchers, but they liked to scratch the sides of the sofa, the corners of my mattress, and my throw rugs.

So, the reasons this post is great for them: It's very stable. The base screws on and the whole thing sits on the carpet without needing to be anchored into anything (helpful since I'm a renter). The first time I set it up, our female cat climbed up the post and tried to get onto the top. (The top is too slippery for her to pull herself up, but you could add something with more traction.) The post is stable enough for a medium-sized cat to scale it without tipping, and it's steady enough for my larger cat to enthusiastically scratch on.

The sisal surface is dense and they can really get their claws into it. It looks like it'll last a while. Most days when I come home, each cat comes up to the post near the front door and does a quick wake-up scratch.

The post is more than tall enough for both cats to stretch out as high as they want while scratching. Since the scratching post has four sides, both cats can scratch on it at once if they want.

Since buying it, my cats scratch the furniture a lot less, and if they forgot I just direct them to the scratching post. They don't spend a ton of time scratching it -- though they get excited if I tape a dangling toy from the top -- but it seems to fulfill their need to scratch and mark their territory. (For the bed scratching problem, adding a dust ruffle over the box spring helps, and I put the over-the-door sisal scratcher on the floor next to the bed so they have something else to scratch on.)Get more detail about SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post.
